By the time you will read this SAND Room story, we will have moved into our new home just ten minutes south of where we live now. Today, I started packing boxes. We move in ten days. I already have the pictures down off the walls. This wonderful place we have called home for just three years and three months will not be ours anymore. I so remember moving in here from our RV, and all the ways that God blessed us. Through our wonderful daughter-in-law, Holly, we were able to furnish this place on a shoestring. She came across a yard sale to outdo all yard sales. It provided couches, recliners, rugs, plants, mirrors, etc… I remember our first days in this place and looking out the windows at the beautiful pine trees. It reminded me of Lake Tahoe, right here in the Bay Area. I was thrilled that we would have a place to have our family over, and we did that very first Thanksgiving and Christmas. I actually wrote these messages from thee SAND Room, aptly named because of the color of the walls and the beach theme it contained. There was so much I liked about our home, but it’s time to move on, as God calls us to.
I heard last week that there are good things, there are great things, and there are God things. I believe the home we are moving into is all three of those things, and I’ll tell you why. About a month ago, I had a dream, and in the dream, we were moving into a large, multi-decked sailboat. I jotted the dream down as I woke up. Sometimes, God speaks through dreams as is talked about many times in the Bible. I also wrote in my notebook, “Does this have to do with our new home?” Since we now live with our son and his three children, we have outgrown our condo. We didn’t think this house would be our new home when we first looked at it. For one thing, it had all hard-wood floors, and I much prefer carpeting. But when we saw it, we really liked it. When our son was able to see it, he liked it, too, so we applied. We were approved. Then during the worship time at church, it came to me…the dream I had really was about our new home…it is large, it is two stories, and it has wooden decks throughout it, like on a sailboat. I knew in that moment the house was a God thing!
This morning I talked with my friend, Liz, and she said that she always names her homes. We talked about maybe naming the house Sailboat, Sails…and then it came to me, “The Ark.” It says in the Bible, as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the son of Man. With a look at our world today, many things are like they were in the days of Noah, when God needed to wipe the world clean and start over. God promised He would never do that to the world again, but our Father has promised us the return of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus will return for those who call Him Savior and Lord. In our home, we are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Jesus! And we will now be living in the Ark as we wait, although no animals are allowed!
Searching And Noticing the Divine comes in good things, in great things, and most importantly in God things. I may not be totally ready to leave our present home, but I know that God has planned this move. I also know the most important thing to be ready for is the return of Jesus, wherever we are. We don’t know exactly when that will be, but we do know that each day we live on this earth His return is getting closer. Maranatha!
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
