What Are Your Needs?

Do we bring our daily needs to God? Big and little? Do some seem ridiculous to even ask for? And yet, God just might be waiting to surprise us with an answer to those very requests!

Just recently a friend of mine was in search of some walking sticks. None of us are getting any younger, and sometimes even new struggles with our health can cause us to make certain changes in our normal way of doing things. My friend is no exception, and she went looking for a new way of hiking…using some nifty sticks! Being budget conscious, like most of us, she asked a woman she knows who manages a thrift store to keep an eye out for some. The woman responded by telling her that she would, but as long as she had been there she had never had any walking poles come in. You probably already know what I’m going to share with you…a few days later she called and told my friend that she would not believe this, but they got some in that day! My friend was excited! And the thrift store manager was so surprised! Eighty dollar walking sticks, looking almost new, for the now reasonable price of $15.00!

Don’t you just love stories like this? Don’t we all wish they were a part of our everyday walk with God? They can be, if we will ask, and receive, and open our eyes to see where our answers are coming from! God is doing these kinds of things every single day. But many days, we are so busy running our own lives we miss what God is doing!! Let’s take in a deep breath, and realize that the air in our lungs just arrived from our Father in Heaven. “And the Lord God formed a man’s body from the dust of the ground and breathed into it the breath of life. And the man became a living person.” Genesis 2:7 (NLT) How do we get so independent that we forget we are dependent on our Creator even for the very air we breathe? It’s because we, in the form of Adam and Eve, walked out of God’s will in the Garden, and then God had them walk out of the Garden into a fallen world…and that is the world we live in to this day. Those that think they have no need of God…we might challenge them to try and live without the air that God is providing for all of us each day! And we might want to remind each other that one day we will live on a New Earth, and we will not miss one thing that God is doing because we will see Him face to face!! We will experience God’s goodness towards us without all the barriers that keep us from realizing all that God is providing for us every single moment. What an exciting time in our lives Heaven will be! Yes, lives, because we will be fully alive, eternally, in God’s presence forevermore!!

When Searching And Noticing the Divine today, let’s focus on our eternal hope in Heaven! Let’s not take one single breath for granted, because one day we will be in God’s eternal Kingdom where walking sticks will no longer even be needed. We will have perfected Heavenly bodies as we walk along with Jesus!
