This story I am sharing with you today is true. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. NOT! It’s all true. Our God is amazing! I had contacted my neighbor, Pam, to see if I could come over for a visit. She gladly accepted, and I was soon sitting in her living room sharing a cup of tea with her. We hadn’t been talking long, when she told me about a recent fall she had taken while hiking. She had slipped on some ice and gone down hard on her back. She knew that she was not in good shape. But being the non-complainer that she is, she got up and continued on with her hike. She has kept going for over three weeks, but she has been in a great amount of pain the entire time.
Pam and I have talked about praying for healing before, so it was not out of place for me to ask her if I could pray for her. She quickly accepted, and she and I stood up. I put my hands on her, where the greatest amount of pain was, right across the middle of her back. I prayed for healing and the pain to GO in Jesus’ name. Pam began to describe what was happening. She said that things were starting to move around in there, like a chiropractor was doing some adjusting. She said there was like a little explosion down low on one side, and the pain was going away. Then she could feel some pain in different areas. It might have been that once the greatest amount of pain was gone she could then feel lesser pain in different areas. Her shoulders hurt, so I prayed for her shoulders to be healed in Jesus’ name. The pain left her shoulders. Then her hips hurt, so I prayed for her hips, and spine. Jesus kept healing her as I prayed. We were both thrilled at this healing experience. Then Pam said, “My plantar fasciitis is getting better.” That was a pain in the heal of her left foot. We hadn’t even prayed for that! But then we did and that pain was gone.
The whole experience lasted about ten minutes, as we just moved through the different areas of pain with prayers for healing. When we finished, she said she could take a deep breath again, and that her shoulders felt like she had had a two-hour massage. She said she felt tender, but not in pain. I got a text from her this morning, and she said she feels SO much better. I asked her if she has any pain? She said she can still feel things moving around ever so gently and softly. She feels a little bit achy. She thinks it’s still adjusting. We will pray again in a few days if needed.
I wasn’t on a Searching And Noticing the Divine mission when I asked my neighbor if I could drop by for a visit. But both Pam and I noticed the Divine in action by simply doing what we are called to do—pray for our Savior’s healing touch. I have prayed for healing and not seen such miraculous results. But I never want to miss moments like this, so I keep praying. We serve such a faithful, compassionate, and fun God! To God be the Glory!
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing,
and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you
ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
